Sherman County VINELink Is IVSS
Texas changed its county notification service on September 1, 2025. The Attorney General says county VINE moved to Texas IVSS-Counties. Existing registrations moved during the transition, and users were prompted to update passwords. Older pages, brochures, and screenshots that direct readers to the former VINELink workflow may no longer match the live service.
IVSS-Counties covers people currently in custody or under supervision where the participating agency supplies a record. It can carry booking, release, court-change, death, escape, and transfer-to-TDCJ events. Sherman County participation is not documented on the Sheriff website and must be verified through a live county or person match. The portal can be searched without creating an account, but registration is needed to manage notification preferences.
IVSS: the Integrated Victim Services System used by Texas for custody and supervision searches and notifications. It supplies alerts, not the originating agency's official record.
Search a Sherman County Inmate
Begin with the most reliable identifier available. IVSS-Counties accepts a full or partial name and suggests using at least the first three letters of the first and last names. It also accepts DOC ID, SID, Jail ID, or Permanent Booking number. An ID is usually better than a name when common spellings or aliases produce several results.
- Open IVSS-Counties. Use the current Texas portal, not an old VINELink bookmark or screen image.
- Enter the best search data. Try DOC ID, SID, Jail ID, or Permanent Booking number first; otherwise use the person's name as directed.
- Compare every match. Check available identifiers, the named custodian, and status before selecting a record.
- Open the person record. Read the status and available event options. Do not infer a local release merely from an absent result.
- Confirm the custody layer. Use TDCJ IVSS for state prison, parole, or mandatory supervision and the Sheriff record for a county jail release.
If Sherman County cannot be selected or a known current booking does not appear, contact IVSS support and Sherman County Jail at 806-366-5551. The portal itself warns that people who are no longer in custody may not appear. A missing record can reflect scope, timing, data limits, or a change of custodian.
Sherman IVSS Custody Result Fields
The available fields can vary with the custodian and record. IVSS-Counties is designed around current custody or supervision and notification registration. It should not be described as Sherman County's permanent released-inmate archive. The following research-backed inputs and results help interpret a match.

A release alert marks a reported event. It does not necessarily state the full legal manner, transfer destination, bond details, or exact source record. Note the alert time and source, then request the booking and release sheet when the distinction matters.
Register Sherman County Release Alerts
Use the current IVSS-Counties registration page to create an account. Email is required. First and last name are optional on the form described in the research. Create a password and then add the optional phone, text, TTY, or after-hours settings that fit the way alerts should arrive. The service defines after-hours as 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Create the account. Supply the required email address and a password through the live registration form.
- Set contact choices. Add optional telephone, text, TTY, and after-hours preferences as needed.
- Find the right person again. Return to the specific record and compare the custodian and identifiers.
- Select available events. Subscribe to the release, transfer, booking, court, or other event choices the record actually offers.
- Save confirmation. Keep the registration proof and maintain current contact details so an alert can reach you.
IVSS support is available at 866-268-8959 around the clock. Registration does not make the subscriber part of the jail record, and it does not guarantee that every agency or event will appear. Keep the alert as a prompt to contact the source agency.
Texas Retired Legacy VINE PINs
The shift from county VINE to IVSS-Counties is especially important in Sherman County searches because old instructions remain easy to find. Legacy Texas VINE asked a registrant to choose a four-digit PIN and enter it during an automated call to confirm receipt. The current IVSS-Counties registration shown in the research uses an email account and password. Do not invent a PIN when the live form does not request one.

Notification continuity is not historical proof. An existing registration may remain useful if the person later reenters custody, even though a person no longer held may disappear from a current search. Preserve the alert and obtain the originating record for the event itself.
Sherman State Prison IVSS Alerts
A person transferred from Sherman County Jail into the Texas Department of Criminal Justice has changed custodians. That is not a community release. TDCJ runs a separate state IVSS portal for state incarceration, parole, and mandatory-supervision events. State notices can include parole eligibility, Board decisions, bench-warrant movements, prison release, and discharge.
A county registration should not be assumed to follow a later prison sentence. Search and register in the state system when TDCJ becomes the custodian. TDCJ Victim Services lists 800-848-4284 and victim.svc@tdcj.texas.gov for its notification service. A Board decision or projected date is still not proof that the person physically left prison. Program conditions, detainers, later decisions, and processing may intervene.
For current inmates, the TDCJ online search shows current location, conviction and sentence data, and a Projected Release Date on a detail record. Its information is at least 24 hours old and updated on working days. It covers current TDCJ inmates, not county bond releases and not a public archive of discharged people.
Verify a Sherman Release Alert
When an alert arrives, record its event time, delivery time, source, and exact wording. A release event can differ from transfer, escape, death, booking, or a court-status change. An "out of custody" state should not automatically be read as return to the community. Contact the named custodian and ask for the public record that explains the event.
For Sherman County Jail, call 806-366-5551 and ask whether the person remains in local custody. If not, ask whether release was to the community or another agency. A written request can seek the actual release date and time, disposition or manner, bond information, and transfer destination if public. Official proof: IVSS is a notification and current-status system; use the Sheriff, TDCJ, or other custodian's record to establish the release manner.
Sherman VINELink Search Limits
IVSS data is expressly not the official record. A current result can identify a reported custodian or supervision relationship, while no result cannot establish release. Sherman County participation also must be tested in the portal because the county site does not document it. Data updates and event options depend on the agencies that supply them.
Neither Texas county IVSS nor TDCJ IVSS is the BOP inmate locator. Federal BOP results may show a release date and "Released" or "Not in BOP Custody," but that wording is limited to BOP custody. ICE uses its own locator, and DHS-VINE is a distinct immigration notification service. A federal no-custody result does not exclude a county, state, ICE, or other hold.
The DPS Public Sex Offender Registry is also not a general release list. It applies only when a person has a legal registration duty. Presence does not prove parole or probation, and absence says nothing about an ordinary jail release. Use each system only for the event and custody layer it was built to report.
Sherman Alerts and Release Records
An alert is fast, while a record supplies the durable detail. For county custody, ask the Sheriff for the public booking and release record. For state prison or parole, a formal TDCJ Public Information Act request can seek releasable portions of a release certificate, discharge certificate, parole or mandatory-supervision status, dates, and related public records. Confidential portions may be withheld.
Court documents can explain the legal event that led to release but may not record the jail's final processing time. The combined Sherman County and District Clerk is the source of official local case records, even though iDocket can aid discovery. Pair the jail event with the court record when both physical release and case outcome must be understood.
